Kim Jae-Hee

Abstract
This study examines the effect of the Life Changes during COVID-19 (LC-19) on depression comparison by living arrangements of the elderly in Jeju. The living arrangements divide into three groups; Elderly Living Alone (EA), Elderly Couple (EC), and Elderly Living with Families (EF). The study analyzes 1,550 elderly cases (342 EA, 840 EC, and 369 EF) of the Korea Community Health Survey 2020. The main results are as follows: First, the depression level is highest in the EA group, followed by EF and EC. Second, among the LC-19 variables, ¡®the refrain from visiting patient¡¯ and ¡®limit outgoing¡¯ significantly differ by living arrangement groups. Third, in the EA group, keeping in touch with close friends and family is related to decreased depression, and in the EF group, decreased physical activities influence high depression. However, in the EC group, non of the variables of LC-19 influenced the depression. Based on the results, the study discusses the protection and relief ways of depression in the elderly by each living arrangement group during COVID-19.
